Information for Employers Sponsoring and Employing Domestics with G-5 and A-3 Visas

Specific to Staff Sponsored by the World Bank, IMF, United Nations, OAS, IADB and other NGOs

N O T I C E:
The US Department of Labor's Foreign Labor Certification Data Center establishes the prevailing wage by occupation on an annual basis. The US Department of State requires that domestic's with G-5 and A-3 visas be paid at a minimum the prevailing wage per hour for their metropolitan statistical area under the job classification 37-2012.00 Maids and Housekeeping Cleaners. If the state minimum wage is higher than the prevailing wage, that automatically applies. Please note that some sponsoring organizations will establish a minimum G-5 hourly rate that exceeds the prevailing wage, typically when year over year the prevailing wage decreases slightly as it did during the 2009 - 2011 recession in some Metropolitan Areas.

Metropolitan Area 9/23/2008 -
6/30/2009
